Thought for the Day

The influx of Tamil film adaptations in Bollywood has led to a degeneration of even the Bollywood formula film; a Maine Pyaar Kiya starring Salman Khan was infinitely better than Wanted or Ready starring the same hero. Maine Pyaar Kiya earned 100crs then, proof enough that if the Indian audience is given a film of equal calibre now, box office would ring 300crs and not one hundred

The Gangs are here in India

To all the detractors of Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1,

1. It is NOT a violent and gory film. The camera hangs around people’s faces when acts of violence are being conducted…we have seen worse in both Hindi and Western cinema…infact i would say that the violence is muted.

2. The first half an hour of the film is not boring at all Raja Sen. If anything, I think the film is nicely put together except for the last scene when Sardar Khan dies…that maybe did not fit in with the rest of the language of the film.

3. There aren’t too many stories to grapple at the same time! Its mostly the adventures of Sardar Khan…where was it difficult to follow Anupama Chopra?

All in all, if you like the Westerns, the gangster films made in Hollywood and the sort, you would enjoy this one immensely! Go watch it, its entertainment!

Hello world!

After 10 years of watching hundreds of films from all over the world, I finally want to pen my thoughts down on cinema…and the magnificent life around and in it.

This blog would be dedicated to reviews, debates, articles, essays, notes, odes (to auteurs, actors, technicians etc.) on all that encompasses film.

Am going to be brutally honest about all that I see, hear and perceive…hence would like to remain within the safe confines of my blog name. Would love to know what you think, in return for joining me on this mad, gleeful trip into a universe probably as big as the real one!

Faithfully
